What nobody seemed to notice was a white dog bowl in the corner of the picture which featured the Queen wearing a sky blue coat and hat while Melania wore a cream Dior suit.

The bowl is believed to be used by her Majesty’s two “dorgies” – a pair of dachshund-corgi crosses named Vulcan and Candy, reports the .

But staff appeared to have spotted the error and removed the bowl in another photo taken yesterday.

The Queen posed with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium with no dog bowl in sight.

President Trump and Melania inspected the Coldstream Guards, Britain’s oldest regiment, which has served in almost every major conflict since the Civil War.

They took a starring role in last month's Trooping of the Colour to celebrate the Queen’s birthday and guard Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle in their distinctive red tunics and bearskin hats.

And Her Majesty serves as the regiment’s Colonel in Chief.

There are no obligatory rules for greeting the Queen, and there are many ways to do it.

Neither President Trump nor Melania bowed or curtsied when they met Her Majesty today, even though it is usually customary to do so.

However, Her Majesty reached out a hand to the President as he was coming up the stairs, which she doesn't do with everyone she meets.
