DRAMATIC footage shows the moment a hitman tried to kill a Mafia boss's son on the streets of New York yesterday.
Salvatore Zottola, 41, from the Bonanno crime family, was rushed to hospital in critical condition after the Bronx attack.
CCTV footage showed the hitman pulling up beside him in a dark Nissan sedan and opening fire in broad daylight.
Zottola, a member of the Bonanno crime family, was seen scrambling to hide behind a people carrier on Tierney Place.
But the shooter got out of the car from the passenger side, ran around the vehicle and started shooting again.
He fired three shots at Zottola, including one which grazed his head, then made his way back to the car.
Police recovered four shell casings at the scene where a pool of blood had built up near the curb.
No arrests have been made but locals spotted the suspect, described as an adult male, fleeing the scene.
Zottola was rushed to the Jacobi Medical Center as cops looked for the man who tried to kill him.
One neighbour told the : "It's not a surprise. Look at what he does for a living.
"I can’t say any more. It’s not worth my life. It’s not worth my daughter’s life."
