The Duchesses, both 36, exuded Wimbledon chic with Meghan teaming a loose-fitted blue and white-striped shirt with wide-legged, high-waisted white trousers and a white straw boater hat.

While mum-of-three Kate sported a black and white patterned midi dress with ruffle detail, teamed with nude heels and drop earrings.

The pair cheered on Serena Williams on Centre Court as she lost out to Angelique Kerber from Germany.

They also got to witness a "heart-racing" semi-final, as Novak Djokovic beat Rafael Nadal to make tomorrow's men's finals in a closely fought fifth set.

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton laugh as tennis ball nearly hits them in the royal box at Wimbledon

Kate and Meghan were seen following every ball - and laughing when one nearly hit them in the Royal Box.

Kensington Palace tweeted a picture of the pair, writing: "A heart-racing semi-final! Congratulations DjokerNole on reaching the  final, and commiserations RafaelNadal — what a match!".

Before the tennis kicked off, Meghan and Kate were showed around by Chairman of the AELTC Philip Brook and his wife Gill.

They then greeted an excited line of ball boys and ball girls at the club and chatted to some junior tennis players.

The glamorous duo also lunched at the SW19 club before taking to the Royal Box to root for seven times Wimbledon champion Serena, Meghan's close friend.

They were joined by actress Emma Watson, who wore a white trouser suit with a matching white waistcoat and straw hat.

Serena has astonished even her most ardent fans with an incredible run at Wimbledon this summer - less than ten months after undergoing an emergency cesarean when giving birth to her daughter.

A guest at Prince Harry and Meghan's lavish nuptials in May, Serena and Meghan, also 36, have formed a tight bond over the past years.

Serena told reporters this week: "We always had a wonderful friendship.

"Every year for a couple years she comes out to Wimbledon, has supported me... Now she’s supporting me in a different role but our friendship is still exactly the same.

"We always have supported each other, just been there for each other through a lot. I look forward to it."

Asked whether she sees herself as tennis royalty, the champion replied: "If there was a royalty, I probably would be.

"If there was a Wimbledon royalty, I would like to believe I would be Wimbledon royalty because I’ve done pretty well here in the past."

Miss Williams said she has surprised herself by reaching the final nine months after the birth of her daughter Olympia.

The US superstar developed blood clots in the lungs and abdomen following emergency surgery, and still has to wear compression sleeves and tights on court.

"It’s been a crazy ten months. I was still pregnant at this time last year," she said.

"That’s something I have to keep reminding myself. Also, you know, going out there, being a mum, is super cool."

If Serena wins she would be the first mother to win Wimbledon since Evonne Goolagong 38 years ago.

Fellow mum Kate, also 36, is officially still on maternity leave from royal duties after having her and Prince William's third child, Prince Louis, in April this year.

Today's matches were delayed after Kevin Anderson beat John Isner in a record-breaking six hour, 35 minute semi-final that went on until 8pm last night.

Tennis lover Kate will return to Centre Court with Prince William to watch the men's singles final tomorrow at 2pm.
