A FIREFIGHTER burst into tears at the Grenfell Tower inquiry today as he recalled the moment he realised the whole block was ablaze.
Crew manager Christopher Secrett was one of the first to arrive last June and was told the initial fire on the fourth floor had been put out.
But as he went outside to see the incident commander, he saw flames up the side of the tower.
Mr Secrett later climbed up stairs through thick smoke to try to rescue a girl on the 20th floor.

He ran low on oxygen and feared he would die, adding he did not believe anyone could have survived on the stairs without breathing equipment.
The inferno killed 72 at the block in North Kensington, West London.
The inquiry continues.
