Nigel Farage ‘banned from meeting Donald Trump when President visits Britain next week’
Downing Street has denied the ex-Ukip leader's claim he has been banned from meeting the President
NIGEL Farage is BANNED from meeting Donald Trump when the US President visits Britain next week, he claimed today.
The top Brexiteer said Theresa May is "paranoid" about stopping him holding talks with his friend Mr Trump.
But Downing Street insisted the claims are "nonsense" - adding that the President never even asked to meet the ex-Ukip boss.
Mr Farage and Mr Trump have long been allies and have hit the campaign trail together.
They last met at Trump Tower shortly after the President beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
But Mr Farage says he won't have the chance to speak to Mr Trump during his trip to the UK next week.
He claimed Number 10 had intervened to quash any request from the White House for a meeting with him.
Mr Farage : "I understand that through the normal protocol channels established between them ahead of a visit that they are very keen - almost paranoid I was told - that he doesn't meet me."
He insisted that he would be able to boost the cause of Brexit Britain if he were allowed to hold talks with Mr Trump - who once said he should become the UK's ambassador to Washington.
Downing Street officials hit back and dismissed Mr Farage's claims of a ban.
One source told The Sun: "It's nonsense. We're not even aware of a meeting being requested."

Mr Farage spoke at an election rally for Mr Trump in August 2016, and claimed that the Brexit referendum was a good sign for the Republican's chances of victory.
The President will arrive in Britain next Friday and is expected to visit London, Windsor and Scotland.
He will hold talks with Theresa May as well as meeting the Queen for the first time.
Ministers to give Scotland £5m for cost of hosting Trump
MINISTERS today set aside £5million to pay for the cost of policing Donald Trump's visit to Scotland.
Liz Truss, the Chief Secretary of the Treasury, vowed that the Scottish police force won't be left out of pocket from the trip.
In a letter to the SNP-run Scottish government, she revealed the Treasury will "prove ring-fenced funding of up to £5million".
The cash will be provided despite the fact that policing north of the border is supposed to be funded by Nicola Sturgeon's government.
Mr Trump is expected to head to Scotland after meeting Theresa May in London.
He is likely to visit his golf courses as he tours the country where his mother was from.
