AN Al-Qaeda terrorist mastermind whose wife lives in Britain is due for release from a high-security prison.
Djamel Beghal — once jailed for plotting to blow up the US Embassy in Paris — is now preparing to walk free after planning the prison escape of a radical Islamist.
His wife Sylvie and their four children are understood to currently live in Leicester where he was first based back in the late 1990s.
He has been banned from entering Britain since 2009 — but his wife has previously taken legal action to get him moved from France to the UK.
The Algerian is due for release on August 5.
A security source in Paris said: “If he stays here, it will be under house arrest, so he naturally wants to go to another country.”
Beghal is in Vezin jail, near Rennes.
