Neilson Baxter couldn't believe his eyes when he discovered lad Lennon, 12, had cost him so much money on the popular game
A HORRIFIED dad discovered his son splashed £600 on his credit card playing Fortnite in just TWO weeks.
Neilson Baxter, 47, lost his cool when it was revealed that son Lennon, 12, had racked up the hefty bill playing the game on his Xbox.
The latest craze game — which involves a hunt for weapons to kill rivals — is free but players can buy arms upgrades and new outfits for their characters.
Neilson, of Alloa, Scotland, has now warned parents that it is easy for kids to use their parents' cards.
He said: "I was absolutely shocked.
"When I went to look at the bill I couldn't believe what I saw.
"Lennon had managed to bypass my password and there were no parental controls on there so he could spend and buy like it was me.
"I couldn't believe how easy it was to spend that kind of money in just a few short weeks."
The moment he furiously confronted the youngster went viral online after his daughter Courtney posted it on Facebook - racking up more than 250,000 views.
After speaking to XBox bosses, the despairing dad got reimbursed.
Neilson said: "I have to say that the XBox people have been absolutely fantastic.
"When I called them and explained what had happened they were happy to put the money back in my account.
"I was angry and shocked at the time but now that it's been cleared I find it quite funny.
"And I'm getting stopped in the street. I was out last night and folk were shouting: 'there's that guy from the XBox video on Facebook!'"
Lennon was allowed to keep his console after apologising for the episode.
Neilson said: "Lennon was absolutely shocked by what had happened and he's apologised.
"He said he'd never ever do it again."
If you're new to the game, here's what you need to know
The Sun revealed last week that a schoolgirl is
She is said to have wet herself during a 10-hour-long binge on Fortnite — and even hit her dad in the face when he tried to take away her Xbox console.
Neilson has now warned other parents who worry that they'll get hit with a mammoth bill as a result of the game.
He said: "Kids are playing these Fortnite games and they can be up to all hours on them.
"My advice to other parents would be to know what's going on, make sure you've looked at the parental controls and they're all in order.
"It's easy to fall into the trap and you have to be careful, especially if you're not very good with computers.
"Just keep the parental controls in mind. "
Many parents have reported their kids being hooked on the game - which has 40million users and three million playing at any one time.
Suzanne Sellman, mum to Leo, 10, told ITV’s This Morning: “The game is so full of energy and adrenaline that when you pull them off it they are screaming at the television.”
The NSPCC warned parents over the dangers of the game last month - following reports of grooming incidences.
Emma, from Stockport, was standing at her son's bedroom door when she overheard a grown man asking his age as he played on the multiplayer action survival game.
