Woman is savaged by a fox after the animal crept on to her bed at night
Jodie Nailard, 22, suffered six puncture wounds and spent two days in hospital after being bitten on the bicep
A TERRIFIED woman was savaged by a fox which had crept on to her bed as she slept.
Jodie Nailard, 22, suffered six puncture wounds after being bitten on the bicep.
And she spent two days in hospital fearing she may have contracted rabies.
The fox had sneaked in through open patio doors at the ground floor flat Jodie, a PA, shares with her boyfriend Harry King, 23, in Clapham, South West London.
She told how she woke in agony at 5.30am on Sunday.
Jodie said: “My left bicep was throbbing with pain and covered in blood and I wondered what the hell had happened.
“Then I saw a fox at the end of my bed and I just screamed and burst into tears.
“As I sat up I accidentally kicked it and it jumped off the bed and ran out of the door.”
Harry, a media production assistant, spotted the fox was still lurking outside and threw pillows to drive it away.
He then raced Jodie to A&E at King’s College Hospital, where she was vaccinated against rabies, tetanus and polio.
MCFLYING FOX
POP star Dougie Poynter, 30, helped save a fox from drowning.
The McFly bassist called the RSPCA when he spotted it trapped in a fountain in Richmond.
The charity tweeted: “Thanks Dougie. We’re super grateful.”
Jodie said: “I’m just grateful it didn’t go for my face.
“I’m not sure whether it came in specifically to attack me or it bit me because I moved my arm and startled it.”
There are 30,000 urban foxes in Britain but attacks are rare.
In February seven-month-old Raeya Boundy was bitten on the hand by a fox which crept into her home in Plymouth.
Last year Avril Clark, 71, was bitten on the hand after a fox got in through a cat flap in Richmond, South West London.
