PRINCE Charles has welcomed Meghan Markle into the fold - giving the American a rather unusual nickname.
The future king is said to call his daughter-in-law Tungsten, inspired by the tough metal known for its robustness and strength.
According to the , the nickname came from Meghan's strength and determination - said to have impressed Prince Charles.
A source told the news outlet: "Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy.
"It’s become a term of endearment."
Prince Charles and Meghan have already become quite close with the 36-year-old asking him to walk her down the aisle when her father was forced to pull out of her wedding to Prince Harry.
While the choice of nickname may seem odd, the metal does have a number of impressive qualities that could be used to describe the Duchess of Sussex.
Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals in a pure form.
It is also known for its ability to retain its hardness, exceeding many forms of steel.
The metal is generally used to cut tools like knives and drills thanks to its hardness.
It can also be used in light bulbs and rocket engine nozzles.
The rare metal is found naturally on earth - first found in 1781.
The element, known as W, has the atomic number 74.
