BBC’s lawyer bill in court case against Sir Cliff Richard hits £153,000

BBC bosses have already forked out £153,000 on outside lawyers to defend their court case against Sir Cliff Richard.

He is suing for over £600,000 after a police raid linked to a sex assault claim was filmed at his home in Sunningdale, Berks, in 2014.

Sir Cliff. 77, wants damages for misuse of private information and breaking data protection rules.

A High Court judge is considering his decision.

The BBC revealed it spent £153,025 on “external legal fees” by the end of May after a Freedom of Information request.

The singer denied the historic allegation and was never arrested or charged. It was later announced he would face no action.
