DONALD Trump sensationally refused to sign the G7 agreement and slammed the Canadian PM as "dishonest and weak"
The president pulled a rare u-turn on what little the G7 summit did agree, then launched into a series of scathing tweets last night.
He was incensed by comments made on trade at a press conference by Canada boss Justin Trudeau.
Trump tweeted: "PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, 'US Tariffs were kind of insulting' and he 'will not be pushed around'.
"Very dishonest and weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!"
It came on a stormy second day of G7 talks where Trump infuriated fellow leaders by arriving late, ignoring the dress code and leaving early.
The livid president even ordered fresh tariffs are now drawn up on the lucrative car market.
His actions mean the two day meeting was an unmitigated disaster.
He delivered a personal snub to Theresa May by refusing to name her in his list of G7 friends.
And then Trump sensationally backed out of a joint communique agreed by G7 world leaders.
Trump tweeted, as he boarded a flight for Singapore to meet North Korea's Kim Jong-un: “Based on Justin’s false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our US farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our US reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!”
Responding to Trump's Twitter rant, Trudeau's spokesman said: "The prime minister said nothing he hasn’t said before — both in public, and in private conversations with the president."
It emerged that a major late night bid by Britain's PM, Germany's Angela Merkel and France's Emmanuel Macron to talk him round on tariffs failed spectacularly.
Delivering another of his extraordinary trademark rants, the maverick President lashed out at EU states in particular for treating the US like a “piggy bank that everybody’s robbing”.
A major trade war would follow that the US “cannot lose” if the EU went ahead with its vow to raise tariffs on US imports in revenge for him hiking steel and aluminium tariffs, he warned.
Accusing the other leaders of “ravaging” the US with poor trade deals, he argued: “The US has been taken advantage of for decades and decades.
“Those days are over.
“We’re going to fix that situation. And if it’s not fixed, we’re not going to work with these guys.
“The gig is up. There’s nothing they can say. They can’t believe they got away with it.”
The fractious G7 summit broke up last night with only a very basic agreement possible between the leaders.
After officials worked through the night to find anything that all seven could sign up to, they eventually agreed on the need to reform the World Trade Organisation and maintain sanctions on Russia.
But the US and Japan refused to sign up to any targets to reduce plastics pollution – which was Canada’s big goal for the summit.
Mrs May admitted that the two day session had seen “some difficult conversations and strong debate".
But she insisted that was the purpose of the G7, as it was meant to be “a forum for full and frank discussion between close allies”.
On Trump’s accusation that the US was a piggy bank that Europe has been robbing, the PM said: “We’ve had a very frank discussion with President Trump. We want to see free and fair trade around the world.
“We all recognise the WTO is in need of reform, especially in its dispute mechanism.”
