ANTHONY Bourdain's mother has revealed her shock over the celebrity chef's suicide aged 61.
Gladys Bourdain admitted he seemed in a "dark mood" when she spoke to him in the days before he was found hanged at a luxury hotel in Kaysersberg, France.
But she said he gave no indication about what he was planning, : "He is absolutely the last person in the world I would have ever dreamed would do something like this.
"He had everything. Success beyond his wildest dreams. Money beyond his wildest dreams."
The famed cook, writer and host of the Parts Unknown TV show was found unresponsive on his bathroom floor at Le Chambard hotel on Friday.
A French prosecutor today said there was no evidence of foul play in the death of the beloved chef.
Prosecutor Christian de Rocquigny also revealed there did not appear to be much planning in the television personality's suicide.
He said: "There is no element that makes us suspect that someone came into the room at any moment."
De Rocquigny added that a medical expert had concluded there were no signs of violence on Bourdain's body.
Rocquigny said toxicology tests were being carried on the American’s body, including urine tests, to see if he took any medications or other drugs.
Olivier Nasti, the chef and owner of Le Chambard, the luxury hotel in Kaysersberg where Bourdain took his life, paid tribute to his colleague Saturday.
He said: "It is with great respect for the leader, the author, the TV entertainer, the visionary Anthony Bourdain that I express all my condolences to his family and to the anonymous people around the world who he made dream so much.
"It is the whole family of French gastronomy that joins me, to renew our deep friendship to our bereaved American brothers.”
Bourdain's girlfriend Asia Argento, 42, said she is "beyond devastated" by his death while insisting she will remember the "brilliant" cooking icon as her "protector".
She wrote on Twitter: "Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did.
"His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds."
Asia met Bourdain, who previously battled heroin addiction, during filming for a TV show in 2016 shortly after he separated from his second wife, the MMA fighter Ottavia Busia.
She added: "He was my love, my rock, my protector. I am beyond devastated. My thoughts are with his family. I would ask that you respect their privacy and mine."
President Donald Trump paid his condolences from the G7 summit, saying: "I think it’s very sad. In fact, That was very shocking.
“I enjoyed his show. He was quite a character, I will say.”
