AN entire island for is up for sale for £400,000 - less than the price of a one-bed flat in London.
Stack Rock Fort, off the coast of Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire, is an "amazing opportunity to own a real piece of history."
It was one of a chain of forts designed to defend Britain and the Royal Naval Dockyard at Pembroke Dock against an invasion from France under Napoleon III.
In its glory days, Stack Rock was armed with sixteen 18-ton guns, and manned by up to 150 men.
Built between 1850 and 1852, and upgraded in 1859 with a new building that completely encased the original gun tower, the Grade II-listed fortification is on sale for £400,000.
A small consignment of men also manned the fort during the First World War.
In 2015, it was put up for sale for £150,000.
The privately-owned island is currently uninhabitable but sales agent Purplebricks says the derelict site has "unbelievable scope for development".
"Previous owners have enquired about the potential to turn the fort in to a commercial residence with links to the main land," it says.
Made up of three floors with spiral staircases leading to each one, with canon rooms, former sleeping quarters, the island provides a 360-degree view of the Haven waterway.
Earlier this year a Scottish island - complete with its very own loch - went on the market with an asking price of just £250,000.
The island only had the remains of two derelict cottages, so the new owners would have their work cut out - although plans to renovate the two buildings had already been given the green light.
