Fatcat water company bosses pocket £58m in five years as customers’ bills rise
Just nine water firm bosses shared the whopping kitty between them while cash-strapped Brits have stomached multiple bill hikes
NINE water company bosses have pocketed £58million over the past five years — as customers’ bills continue to rise.
Top earner Liv Garfield, boss of Severn Trent Water, got £2.45million in 2017, up 50 per cent in four years.
And United Utilities splashed out £2.31million on Steve Mogford, a 49 per cent increase since 2013.
Last year the nine water chiefs pocketed £11.3million between them in salary, bonuses and pensions — even though their average pay has fallen for two years straight.
Meanwhile, customers have suffered increases of 40 per cent above inflation since privatisation of the industry in 1989.
