THE SHOE NOBODY NEEDED

World’s weirdest shoes released combining Crocs with a pair of white socks already built in

Sold by New York City-based brand Alfie, the shoe is apparently intended as a tribute to 1970s fashion, combining the 'socks and sandals' look into one bizarre item of clothing

A BEMUSING new fashion item that combines Crocs with a pair of white socks built in - and they are being sold for more than £100.

Sold by New York City-based brand Alfie, the shoe is apparently intended as a tribute to 1970s fashion, combining the "socks and sandals" look into one bizarre item of clothing.

Rob Cristofaro, who founded Alfie, told High Snobiety: "This style was born from part fashion trend, part hood reality, and the want of touching upon my youth.

"The tube sock was a staple for me while growing up in New York in the 1970s.

"In the boroughs of New York, you would see kids rocking socks with the adidas slides.

"The concept was really to take something as next-level as a Croc, and mix it with these elements."

The Alfie shoe is being sold for $140, or £105.

Alfie has also launched a 3D Croc, known as the Art Crock, for those who don't fancy a sock attached but still want to make a statement

One line of the Alfie shoe will even be priced at $600, known as the Art Croc.

Speaking to Women's Wear Daily, Mr Cristofaro added: "Nobody wanted to touch the Croc.

"People thought I was bugging, but whether you love them or hate them, Crocs are an iconic piece of footwear and they sell."

While some Twitter users are baffled by the fashion trend, some say they can't wait to get their hands on a pair.

But one user asked: "If the socks are connected to the crocs, how do you wash the socks?"
