READY TO BAKE

UK weather watchers say Britain will bask in MONTH-LONG heatwave in June with temperatures topping 30C

A heatwave across Europe later this month is set to nudge British temperatures towards 30C, according to some forecasters

WEATHER watchers have said the UK is to bask in a searing heatwave as rocketing temperatures start a sizzling Summer this month.

Temperatures are set to turn upwards after a week of storms and torrential rain have lashed the country.

Rising temperatures will see parts of the UK nudge towards 30C weather by the second week in June, according to reports.

Heatwave conditions over Europe will wash over Britain sending temperatures soaring in parts, according to WeatherAction forecaster Piers Corbyn.

He told : "It is from the second week of the month onwards when we expect to see a return to heatwave conditions, very hot weather is expected over Europe and some of that is going to influence the UK.

"Temperatures could hit 30C next weekend, so apart from a slightly cooler start and end to the month we expect a blazing June of sunshine and dry weather."

James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, told the paper: “Forecasts into the start of the meteorological summer reveal a settled pattern of warm to hot temperatures with no give until at least mid-June.

“We expect it to turn increasingly warmer through the first week of the month with many parts of the country basking in temperatures in the mid 20Cs.

"It could be rather muggy and humid with some variable cloud cover, but when the sun does come out it will feel extremely hot as summer gets underway.”

And according to the Met Office, while showers may continue in some parts through the weekend, warm weather will bring a much drier, fresh start to the week with plenty of sunshine on Monday.

But despite Wednesday and Thursday seeing a good deal of fine weather, with sunny spells for much of the UK, there is a risk that scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms could affect the far south and southeast at times, the Met Office has said.

For the long range forecast for the rest of the month, the Met Office said: "Through the second weekend of June, there's a risk of thundery showers in parts of the southwest and west, but many southern and eastern areas stay largely dry, although it may become more generally unsettled in the west later that Sunday.

"It looks as though the second half of June will probably start changeable with showers or perhaps longer spells of rain, these interspersed with drier periods.

"While temperatures may be close to or a little above normal for a time, there will be an ongoing risk that warm, humid and perhaps thundery conditions will spread across the UK from the continent.

"The last week of the month may become more generally settled, with a chance of warm temperatures and more sunshine for many."
