Tragic Aisling Dolan dies in three-car smash in Enniscorthy, Ireland yesterday as her mum is airlifted to hospital
TRIBUTES have been paid to a teenage girl who died in a horror road crash yesterday that also left her mum seriously injured.
Aisling Dolan, 19, was killed in a three-car smash on in Enniscorthy, Ireland.
She had been a front seat passenger in a black Peugeot hatchback.
Her mum Breda was seriously injured in the collision and was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin.
A number of others were rushed to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The Principal of Aisling’s former school St Mary’s in New Ross, John Michael Porter, yesterday paid tribute to the popular ex-pupil who he described as “wonderful and exuberant.”
He told the Irish Sun: “When word emerged yesterday afternoon that Aisling had tragically died in an accident there was a sense of shock and disbelief.
“It was fitting that the news filtered through from a circle of friends - Aisling had a excellent group of friends and their sense of shock has been matched by their willingness to support.
“Aisling was a wonderful girl with an exuberant personality who fully participated in school life. Her friendship group was created by common bonds of trust, loyalty and sense of fun.
“Some of Aisling’s friends have had to deal with bereavements in the last few years and Aisling was there to support them at all times.”
Bereavement support has been offered to students and staff at the school to help them deal with Aisling’s death.
Aisling had just left St Mary’s last year and the school will tonight say a special prayer for her and her family at their end of year mass.
Principal Porter said: “It is particularly poignant at this time of the year as we celebrate our 6th Year end of year mass tomorrow night – a night where we celebrate the involvement of 6th years in their journey through school and pray for their success in exams and the future.
“Aisling was with us last year for this event. We will have a special prayer for Aisling and her family at this mass – her sister Niamh is also a past pupil."
Dozens of Aisling’s pals also took to social media yesterday to share photos and pay tribute to their friend.
One friend posted on Facebook: “I will miss you forever and always beautiful” while another wrote “Never a dull moment when you were around Ais. Rest easy. Love you so much.”
Another friend said: “Life is so cruel. Absolutely heartbreaking. Rest in peace Aish. You will be sadly missed by everyone.”
One pal described Aisling as being someone who was "full of life and always laughing".
They told : "Aisling touched all our lives so much and we are completely heartbroken."
Another added: "Today my life was turned upside down. Love and will miss you always Ais."
Irish police the Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
They said in a statement: " are currently are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Scarawalsh, Enniscorthy on the N11 Enniscorthy to Dublin Road.
