Evil child rapist Wayne Chapman, 59, to be released from prison by officials who claimed he was ‘TOO OLD’ to re-offend
Chapman was jailed for 30 years in 1977 for raping two boys in Massachusetts, and has spent the last 11 years civilly committed as a sexually dangerous person
EVIL child rapist Wayne Chapman is set to be released from prison as he is "too old to re-offend", it has emerged.
The release of the 59-year-old comes after two examiners said he is "no longer a sexually dangerous person", Department of Correction officials told .
The broadcaster said Chapman was recently evaluated by qualified mental health examiners who ruled he is no longer a threat to children.
Chapman was jailed for 30 years in 1977 for raping two boys in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and has spent the last 11 years civilly committed by the State as a sexually dangerous person, but has made several applications for his release.
At a , Chapman’s lawyers argued he was "just too old and too sick" to re-offend, adding: "His life won’t create the circumstances that allow him to re-offend… Even if he wanted to."
But a forensic psychologist also testified in 2016 that Chapman believed little boys wanted to have sex with him, saying: "The fact that in December 2014, a little more than a year ago, he was still saying he saw these children as willing participants in the assaults, seems to us quite a severe cognitive distortion."
Chapman has also been suspected but never charged in the 1976 disappearance of ten-year-old Andy Puglisi, who disappeared from a swimming pool in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1976.
Melanie Perkins, a childhood friend of Andy Puglisi, said: "Suddenly he's no longer sexually dangerous simply by virtue, what, that he's older? That doesn't make any sense."
She added: "My heart breaks for his family and for all the victims of Wayne Chapman because there are many... Children in Providence who were raped by him children in Massachusetts who were raped by him."
A Department of Correction told Boston 25 that Chapman's release is "already a done deal" and he could be out by Wednesday.
