DONALD Trump is to extend his visit to Britain by a third day to play golf in Scotland with a celebrity.
On the US president’s request, his working trip in July is now likely to include 18 holes on one of his two golf courses north of the border.
Officials are looking for a major sporting name for the property billionaire to take on, who can match his self-proclaimed handicap of three.
But it also emerged last night that Mr Trump’s second trip to the UK this year - an official state visit - will now almost certainly be delayed yet again until next year.
America’s mid-terms elections to Congress in November - deemed crucial to Trump’s survival in the White House - now make it impossible for him to travel and take up the Queen’s official invitation until 2019.
Under the latest planning for July’s less formal visit, Mr Trump will arrive in Britain on Thursday July 12 for a dinner.
He will hold talks with Theresa May the following day.
But it has yet to be decided whether the president will risk the anger of thousands of protesters on London’s streets by seeing the PM in Downing Street or dodging them by opting for her Chequers country retreat instead.
Diplomats are also working on a bonding visit for the PM and president to make together on the Friday to emphasise the Transatlantic security alliance.
One option if he comes to London is a personal tour around the Churchill War Rooms, as Trump is a huge fan of the World War Two leader.
A trip to the Royal Navy’s new giant aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, has also been proposed.
The president, who watched Prince Harry’s royal wedding on TV, will also have tea with the Queen in either Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.
