Cameraman is scared "for a split second" as the plan flies 6,000ft below the helicopter
THIS has to be the largest and loudest photobomb of the Royal Wedding.
A plane heading for Heathrow Airport zooms past the cameraman's lens as they try to capture footage of the crowds in Windsor.
The Aer Lingus passenger jet is seen flying right under the helicopter where a police cameraman is trying to get footage of crowds gathering on the Long Walk for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding on Saturday.
NPAS Benson shared the "awkward moment" on social media on Sunday with over 40,000 people clicking to see the sky-high photobomb.
The National Police Air Service is the air support for 43 police forces in England and Wales and deploys helicopters for search and rescue missions, vehicle pursuits, critical incidents and major operational events.
On Saturday it was hovering above Windsor keeping an eye on things on the ground as well as capturing images and footage of the day.
Posting the video on Twitter, they said: "In case you missed it, here's the moment @AerLingus photobombed the #RoyalWedding yesterday and gave our cameraman a shock!"
In another Tweet on Saturday they wrote: "...That awkward moment where you're innocently scanning crowd numbers around the Royal wedding and a plane several thousand feet BELOW us scares me for a split second!"
The police chopper was flying at 8,000ft with the jet flying into Heathrow at around 1,500ft.
Irish flight company Aer Lingus responded to the post with "oh hai."
Replying to the post, Mik Billy Kydd joked: "I hope he got a speeding ticket."
While another, @MrPeterJThomas said: "People always get in the way of a good shot!!!"
NPAS Benson confirmed the helicopter was flying under radar control so all traffic going in and out of Heathrow was separate to its flight on Saturday.
For a short period of time while the service was going on traffic from Heathrow Airport was temporarily suspended for the event, NPAS Benson added.
Around 150,000 people are said to have gone to Windsor to catch a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during the procession through the town after the ceremony at St George's Chapel.
Crowds were 10-15 deep along the Long Walk.
