COPS search for missing schoolgirl Anastasia Kriegel, 14, have found a beaten and half-naked body at a disused farmhouse.
Officers, who say they are treating the death as "suspicious", have been tracking the teenager who went missing from her Dublin home earlier this week.
Her family are understood to be "extremely distressed" as police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Superintendent John Gordon also issued an appeal for dash cam footage.
Speaking at the park where Anna was last seen, he confirmed they are treating the discovery of a body as "suspicious".
Anastasia was last seen at St Catherine's Park in Lucan, Dublin, at 5.30pm on Monday.
Local police and detectives from the NBCI are involved in the investigation.
Superintendent John Gordon said: "We have a full investigation team established.
"We are treating this solely as a suspicious death."
Superintendent Gordon said Anastasia was a first-year student at Confey Secondary School in Leixlip.
He added: "During the course of the search for Anastasia Kriegel, also known as Anna, at approximately 1pm, we discovered a body at a disused vacant farmhouse here on the Clonee Road in Lucan.
"We believe the body of that to be of Anna Kriegel.
"An incident room has been set up, the technical bureau on site and the state pathologist Maire Cassidy will be on the scene.
"We are appealing to the public for their assistance at this time.
"We are appealing to anybody who was here in St Catherine's Park on Monday May 14 from 5pm onwards or there about on the Clonee Road to contact the incident room at Lucan Police Station.
"We're also appealing to anyone who may have been driving in the area with dashcam footage."
A police spokesperson said: "Police at Lucan Co Dublin are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a female on the Clonee Rd, Lucan at approximately 1pm this afternoon, Thursday May 17th 2018.
"The scene is currently preserved pending a full Garda technical examination and the body remains at the scene."
Cops yesterday renewed an appeal in a bid to find the missing 14-year-old.
They said in a statement: "Gardai wish to renew their appeal and seek the public's help in tracing the whereabouts of 14 year old Anastasia Kriegel, who was last seen at St Catherine's Park, Lucan at 5.30pm on Monday the 14th of May 2018.
"Anastasia is originally from Lucan.
"Anastasia is described as being 5'8" in height, with black shoulder length hair, sallow skin and slim build and was last seen wearing a black hoodie with white writing on it, black bottoms and black runners.
"Anastasia's family and gardai are very concerned for her wellbeing."
