Dad of Corey and Casper Platt-May who were killed in Coventry horror crash takes his own life in hotel
Reece Platt-May's body was discovered at a hotel in Corfu, Greece, in the early hours of this morning
THE dad of two boys killed by a hit-and-run maniac took his own life yesterday.
Reece Platt-May, 30, was found dead in a hotel room on the Greek island of Corfu.
Pals said he could not cope with his sons’ death and was devastated when their killer was jailed for only nine years last month after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.
Serial criminal Robert Brown, 53, was high on cocaine when he ploughed into Casper, two, and Corey, six, at double the 30mph limit as they crossed a road with mum Louise, 28, in Coventry in February.
Family members said Louise and Reece were overcome with grief.
Their other sons Connor, nine, and four-year-old Cooper were “waking screaming” in the night.
Friends persuaded taxi driver Reece to go to Corfu for a week to try to “take his mind off things”.
Louise had gone away with some girlfriends the week before.
But he could not live with the tragedy, say friends.
One said: “It just got to him.
“The fact Brown only got a short sentence for killing those beautiful little boys played on his mind.
“It might have pushed him over the edge.
His friends found him dead in his room and had to phone Louise to break the news.
“She and the surviving lads have to go through even more trauma now.”
Reece’s mum Carolyn Platt, 53, put a picture of them together on Facebook captioned: “Me and my rock.”
