He spoke after magistrates in Uxbridge, west London, banned him from Heathrow Airport where he had been dossing down in a multi-faith prayer room.

The Polish hobo, wearing two plastic marathon 2018 bangles, said outside court: "It was 10am on Monday and some young guys were kicking a ball around outside The Bell pub in Hounslow.

"They recognised me as the man from the marathon and came after me in a swarm, breaking my ankle and hurting me elsewhere.

"They maybe wanted to make sure I do not run again. They were racists calling me Polish so and so and a fake.

"I went to hospital and police were called, though I think no one was arrested."

Prince Harry applauds runners at the finish line of the 2018 London Marathon

He vowed: "These people will not succeed, I will be back training in just over a month and I will take part in next year's London Marathon as a real competitor."

Skupien pleaded guilty to disobeying a police order to leave terminal three on April 24, two days after the 26.2 mile race.

Jameela Jamroz, defending, said he only went there three hours later to retrieve a mobile phone and added: "He understands fully the implications of returning.

"He is trying to get his life back together but finding it difficult. He spends a lot of time on the streets."

The lawyers explained builder Skupien had lost his job after a car crash and had separated from wife Karolina - mother of their seven-year-old son -  at the end of last year.

Skupien was fined £80 with a £50 victim surcharge, but that was annulled by the hours spent in police custody.

Magistrate Rex Da Rocha gave Skupien praise for staying away from Heathrow since April 24 - even though The Sun photographed him in terminal three on April 28.

Last week canal barge owner Lawrence O'Connor photographed the Pole wearing his clothes on deck and accused him of piloting it three miles downstream.

But Skupien yesterday denied stealing it, saying he had been offered £100-a-day to paint it by a mystery man.

During the marathon, he climbed barriers at the 12 mile mark and swigged beer, champagne and wine handed to him by the crowd.

Near the finish he found bib 35179, which belonged to Edinburgh charity fund-raiser Jake Halliday, 28, who was disqualified for not have a number at the tape.
