He said: "20 times 20 times alex fergy 20 times 20 times I say. 20 times 20 times alex fergy you should have died the munich way. ALL TOGETHER NOW.”

The sick tweet referred to the Munich air disaster when 23 people were killed including eight of Manchester United's iconic Busby Babes had died in a plane crash in Munich in 1958.

Fields was immediately blasted by social media users calling him  “an awful human being” and a “scumbag.”

He has since taken his Twitter profile down but is still receiving abuse for the post.

The post came after it was revealed Fergie had been rushed to hospital on Saturday morning and was placed in an induced coma.

The Sun revealed today how the legendary manager's first words to his family after his brain surgery were: “How did Doncaster get on?”

He was rushed to hospital hours before son Darren’s Doncaster Rovers played host to Wigan in the final match of the season — and lost 1-0.
