DONALD Trump has sent a message to North Korea insisting that America “no longer makes empty threats.”
Speaking at the White House, the US President referenced the rogue state while announcing that he was pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal.
Trump said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was travelling to North Korea to discuss the scrapping of the crackpot country’s nuke programme.
He said: “Today’s action sends a critical message: The United States no longer makes empty threats.
“When I make promises, I keep them. In fact, at this very moment, Secretary Pompeo is on his way to North Korea in preparation for my upcoming meeting with Kim Jong-un.
“Plans are being made. Relationships are building.

- A top Iranian lawmaker warned President Trump that ministers were preparing to increase spending on the country's ballistic missile program.
- Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned the US that it now "cannot do a damn thing" to stop Iran's nuclear programme following its withdrawal.
“Hopefully, a deal will happen and, with the help of China, South Korea, and Japan, a future of great prosperity and security can be achieved for everyone.”
Trump also said: “America will not be held hostage to nuclear blackmail.
“We will not allow American cities to be threatened with destruction.”

He said: “The so-called Iran deal was supposed to protect the United States and our allies from the lunacy of an Iranian nuclear bomb, a weapon that will only endanger the survival of the Iranian regime.
“In fact, the deal allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium and over time reach the brink of a nuclear blackout.”“Today, we have definitive proof that this Iranian promise was a lie."

The Republican, who called the agreement "rotting and decaying", said he would impose the "highest level" of economic sanctions on Iran.
He said: "The United States no longer makes empty threats. When I make promises, I keep them."
The US President added: "As we exit the Iran deal we will be working with our allies to find a real, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Iran nuclear threat."
