Coronation Street’s Michael Le Vell arrested on suspicion of assault after late night 999 call to his home
MICHAEL Le Vell has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of assault after a late night 999 call was made to his home.
The 53-year-old, who plays Kevin Webster in Coronation Street, was treated in hospital before spending the night at a police station in Manchester, it's reported.
Officers were called to the home he shares with long-term partner Louise Gibbons following a call to emergency services at almost 11pm on Thursday, according to the .
The newspaper claims the actor, whose real name is Michael Turner, was arrested on suspicion of assault and later released, with the force saying it will "take no further action".
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers were called at about 10.50pm on May 3, to reports of an assault in Timperley, Trafford.
They added: “Officers attended and arrested a 53-year-old man, he was taken to hospital then taken into police custody for questioning. The man has since been released with no further action.”
Sun Online has contacted both Le Vell's rep and Greater Manchester Police for comment.
The dad-of-two joined Corrie as the garage mechanic in 1983 and earns £250,000 from the ITV soap.
But it emerged earlier this year, he had gone bankrupt after reportedly failing to keep on top of his tax affairs.
He sold his £750,000 Cheshire home after his marriage to Janette Beverley collapsed following his trial over child sex allegations.
In September 2013, jurors at Manchester crown court took just four hours to acquit him on all 19 charges.
But his private life was laid bare in court as he admitted being an alcoholic who repeatedly cheated on his wife, splitting from his wife in 2011.
Le Vell met Louise, 42, four years ago and she was apparently seen wearing an engagement ring in December.
