THIS is the moment a Costa barista threw a bucket of water over two schoolgirls standing outside for no apparent reason.

The chain's own CCTV camera caught the incident on film and today Costa has confirmed the worker had been suspended.

The girls were outside the North London branch on the last day of the Easter holidays before making their way home.

Footage from Costa’s own CCTV shows a group of lads who were also outside at the time but they ran off when they saw the member of staff.

The 15-year-old girl, who The Sun isn’t naming, then went inside to confront the member of staff.

The man was apparently not apologetic and told her: “It was raining anyway” so she shouldn’t be concerned.

While the footage clearly shows the man throwing the water over the girls he claimed that it was not meant for them but the lads.

The girl then contacted her father who then went down to the cafe, according to the girl’s aunt Esther Okoro.

The member of staff initially denied even throwing the water over the girl, so it is claimed, to the father but he then demanded to see the CCTV footage to verify his daughter’s claims.

It was only when the footage revealed what happened that the man said he was sorry.

Esther told The Sun Online: “There was some dispute between him and the boys but my niece wasn’t with them.

“He claimed the water wasn’t meant for my niece and her friend.

“But wasn’t apologetic and the water was really hot. He shouldn’t just do that, it’s a matter for the police.”

A spokeswoman for Costa Coffee told The Sun Online it was investigating the incident and that the man had been suspended.

She said: “We were extremely disappointed to see this behaviour from one of our baristas and have apologised to the family.

"An immediate investigation was launched by our franchise partner and remains ongoing."
