DONALD Trump said he has been proved "100 per cent right" after Israel slammed arch-enemy Iran for "brazenly lying" about its alleged secret nuclear weapon programme.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed documents claiming to prove its regional rival was making nukes - even though it signed a 2015 deal vowing not to.

And President Trump tonight used the revelations to insist he had Iran pegged from the start, telling reporters at the White House: "What's happening today, and what's happened over the last little while, and what we've learned, has really shown that I've been 100 per cent right."

His comments came after Netanyahu made the bombshell claims about Iran's nuclear weapons program in a prime-time televised address carried by Israeli networks.

He said: "Iran's leaders repeatedly deny ever pursuing nuclear weapons.

"Tonight I'm here to tell you one thing: Iran lied."

Tonight I'm here to tell you one thing: Iran lied

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

The Israeli leader spoke in English and showed pictures and videos claiming to be of secret Iranian nuclear complexes.

Outlining a damning 55,000 page dossier, Netanyahu said Iran was "brazenly lying" about its massive programme to develop atomic warheads and missiles to deliver them.

After signing the nuclear deal in 2015, he claimed Iran had actually intensified its efforts.

In 2017, he alleged Iran moved its nuclear weapons know-how to a highly secret spot in the capital Tehran.

But Iranian state TV rejected Netanyahu's presentation as "propaganda".

Earlier Tehran vowed revenge on Israel after blaming it for a huge attack on its close ally Syria which was so powerful the explosions registered as an earthquake in neighbouring Lebanon.

Syrian state television said the blitz was unleashed on sites near to the cities of Hama and Aleppo at 7pm (UK time) on Sunday.

Following these attacks, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the time when Tehran's enemies can "hit and run" is over.

He thundered: "They know if they enter military conflict with Iran, they will be hit multiple times."

Tehran has vowed to retaliate for that attack.

Meanwhile US President Donald Trump has threatened to withdraw from the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and global powers.Israel has long opposed the agreement.

Washington’s major European allies have urged the Trump administration not to abandon it and argue that Iran is abiding by its terms.
