A MEMBER of staff at Oxford University got £90,000 compensation for tripping, figures reveal.
The case — which racked up £33,700 in legal fees — is one of dozens of huge personal injury payouts at top universities.
Freedom of Information laws revealed accidents like workers falling down stairs or stumbling over steps have cost leading Russell Group campuses £1.6million in three years.
Another Oxford staff member won £15,600 for tripping and a colleague bagged £4,200 after being “hit by an object."
A Sheffield University worker received £27,719 for “occupational asthma.”
An Oxford University spokesman said: “We’re confident that the compensation paid is proportionate to the injury.”
