How the Royal Family keeps ‘recycling’ the same old names for their children

THE Royal family today revealed the name of their newest addition - but it may not be as creative as it first appears.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced their third child's name would be Louis Arthur Charles, with many pointing out it was a recycled combination of names already in the family.

The family's trick of choosing a name quickly became apparent on Twitter, with many writing out a list of some of the most recent names of men in the .

They include little Louis' grandfather, Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, his dad Prince William Arthur Philip Louis and his brother Prince George Alexander Louis.

Over four people, the name Louis has been used three times.

Philip has been used twice, while George has also been used twice over the three generations.

Many eagle-eyed fans shared the list of names, with one writing: "I'm convinced the royals just keep moving the same set of names around."

Another added: "They hv been recycling the same name over and over again..."

A third pointed out that young Prince George Alexander Louis might be confused when meeting his brother, Prince Louis.

It is widely believed that the baby boy was named after Louis Mountbatten, the much-loved uncle of Prince Philip, who was killed by an IRA bomb in 1979.

The name Louis has particular significance with the royal family, with the moniker meaning "famous warrior" or "famous in battle".

Not British king has had the name so far, but there have been 18 French kings with the moniker.

Famous monarchs with the name include the "Sun King" Louis XIV and the last king Louis XVI, beheaded during the French Revolution.

The newborn's full title is His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - but he's likely to be known by his rather shorter new name.

But others pointed out that the new Prince shared his name with other famous individuals, including The Jungle Book’s King Louie and 1D’s Louis Tomlinson

Other famous men with the name Louis include jazz musicians Louis Armstrong and microbiologist Louis Pasteur.
