A DETECTIVE stalked a married woman after she ended their affair, a court heard yesterday.

Michael Trodden, 53, allegedly bombarded cancer nurse Lesley Green with 500 texts, turned up at her home and workplace and spied on her.

Lesley had to take a different route to work, eventually changed her job and sought treatment from a doctor, the jury was told.

They heard that on one occasion after she had her nails done she got a message from Trodden saying: “You must be going out tonight because you’ve got your nails painted red.”

She said they had a five-week fling in 2012 when her marriage was in trouble and then met a few times over the years.

She said: “I’d get a lot of phone calls saying sorry and asking me to meet. It would be a one-off thing — and then go back to square one.”

Prosecutor Jonathan Devlin said her neighbours saw the Durham Police detective constable parked outside her home.

Lesley reported Trodden to his supervisor in an attempt to stop him contacting her, Newcastle crown court heard.
Trodden, of Middlesbrough, denies stalking. He has left the police. The trial continues.
