Who are Neil and Jamie Acourt and where are the Stephen Lawrence murder suspects now?
EVEN 27 years after his death, Stephen Lawrence's brother says he still lives in fear of his brutal killers.
Jamie and Neil Acourt were amongst the five accused of Stephen Lawrence's murder, however, there was insufficient evidence to charge them.
Who is Neil Acourt?
Neil Acourt is one of the five white men accused of murdering Stephen Lawrence in 1993.
He goes by Neil Stuart, his mother's maiden name.
Neil was picked out at an identity parade and charged with murder on 13 May 1993, but the charges were dropped on 29 July 1993, the Crown Prosecution Service citing insufficient evidence.
In 2018, Neil and Jamie went to prison for their role in heading a gang which moved cannabis resin worth £7.4million between London and the northeast between 2014 and 2016.
Neil Acourt walked free from prison in March 2019, serving less than half of his six-year sentence.
Who is Jamie Acourt?
In 2018, Jamie Acourt was jailed for nine years after he admitted his role in a multi-million-pound cannabis smuggling operation.
He was involved in 28 trips which shipped drugs worth £5.6million, Kingston Crown Court heard.
Jamie is still behind bars, and is not expected to be released before his nine-year sentence is up in 2027.
The two men who were convicted of Stephen's murder are Gary Dobson and David Norris.
They were found guilty by an Old Bailey jury after a trial based on forensic evidence.
