GOD OF WAR

Who is Atreus, is Kratos still the God of War and what Norse Gods are in the PS4 game?

While Kratos loses his powers in the final game, the position of God of War stays vacant - so he remains the God of War on a technicality

THE upcoming God of War PlayStation game moves the saga away from its traditional Greek setting and into Norse mythology – so there are a lot of unanswered questions from where the last game ended.

So who is Kratos, is he still God of War, are there any Norse gods, and who is his son Atereus?

The upcoming game takes on a whole new Norse mythology

Who is Kratos and is he still God of War?

Kratos is the protagonist of the God of War series.

He is a Spartan warrior who was tricked into murdering his wife and daughter by Ares, the Greek god of war.

Following orders from the goddess Athena, he soon murders Ares and takes his place among the gods – but is haunted by nightmares about his crime.

Still haunted by his past, he eventually rebels against the gods and learns that he is the son of Zeus.

Expert warrior Kratos returns as a protagonist, but will now be accompanied by his son

While Kratos loses his powers in the final game, the position of God of War stays vacant – so he remains the God of War on a technicality.

Who is Atreus?

Atreus is the first child of Kratos who was born after the death of the Greek gods.

He is 1/4 god and 3/4 human as Kratos was only a demigod.

It is implied that he and his mother lived with Kratos for some time, even though Kratos does not teach him until after his mother’s death.

Unlike his father, he is not a natural-born killer, though he is willing to fight anyone attacking his Kratos.

Sony
The first official trailer is fairly zen, but the actual game will be chock full of violence
