Cops are appealing for witnesses to come forward and help with their enquiries, especially the two passengers who were in the taxi at the time of the collision
A YOUNG man out clubbing was run over and killed by a taxi as he lay in the road in a busy town centre in the early hours of this morning.
The 21-year-old died in the arms of paramedics following the fatal collision in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, which happened as people spilled out of bars and nightclubs.
The taxi driver, who was carrying two passengers when the tragedy happened in the centre of the town, was not arrested.
Today cops appealed for the two taxi passengers who got out of the black coloured cab and went home to get in touch with them as they could hold vital clues to what happened.
It is thought the victim may have fallen into the road as he made his way out of the nightclub area of town.
Sergeant Martin Kemp said: “It is believed that the pedestrian had been lying in the road prior to the collision taking place.
