Our intelligence services proved we were right to send the Russian diplomats back – now we must draw a line in the Syrian sand
The Russian's are trying to discredit both the British security services and our Prime Minister with lies and fanciful stories and pointless talks is not the answer

Fools Russian
THE damning dossier produced by our intelligence services is proof beyond doubt that Russia was behind the attempted murder of Sergei and Yulia Skripal.
It shows that we and our allies were right to send Russian “diplomats” back with their tails between their legs.
The mad ranting of the Russian Ambassador, who’s come up with more explanations for what happened in Wiltshire than he’s had Ferrero Rochers, can be dismissed as a naked attempt to discredit the British security services and the Prime Minister.
This matters because it’s exactly what the Russians are trying to do in Syria.
Yesterday, the Kremlin accused Britain of staging and directing the chlorine attack on Douma’s hospital.
This tinfoil-hatted nonsense would almost be laughable if Bashar al-Assad, with the implicit backing of Moscow, wasn’t bringing chemical weapons back into fashion.
The number of attacks on his own people is well into double figures.
He is rubbing his nose in a convention that has held since the Battle of the Somme.
There are still some who believe that more pointless talks are the answer.
Yesterday, Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott called for a UN probe, even though the Russians have vetoed the same thing for years.
She also said she wouldn’t have supported any British military action since World War II.
Suppose we can kiss goodbye to the Falklands, then.
It’s only a few weeks since Labour backbenchers were claiming the Salisbury attack was just a distraction from Brexit.
We can safely disregard anything they have to say on Syria.
Nothing about this situation is ideal.
But allowing a chemical arms race would not just result in more atrocities in Syria, it would make us less safe, too.
The West must draw a line in the Syrian sand.
Go to baizes!
FOOTBALL fans shouldn’t be vilified because of a tiny minority’s idiocy.
As if it isn’t enough being treated like naughty children at the ground, now punters are banned from wearing football shirts to the snooker.
We’re not sure that polyester is the best choice under the lights, but assuming that somebody wearing a football shirt is a troublemaker is just snobbery.
It’s a witch-hunt at the Crucible.
It’s a cop-out
THE police should never have allowed the shrine to Henry Vincent to be placed outside Henry Osborn-Brooks’ house.
And they shouldn’t allow his funeral procession to pass by, either.
On public order grounds they must demand his family follow a different route.
This whole sorry episode should be confined to history.
