RICHARD Osborn-Brooks has deleted his Facebook account and vowed to sell the home where he knifed burglar Henry Vincent to death family, a friend has claimed today.
The close pal, who did not want to be identified, said: "They are waiting for the dust to settle before they announce that publicly and put their house on the market."
He added: "It's the fact that they could come back and that his wife is disabled. They could terrorise him. It's not safe.
"He's got what happened that night on his conscience for the rest of his life now. He's never going to forget that he's killed someone.
"He's not a violent person. He's a really nice run of the mill guy."
Career crook Vincent, 37, was stabbed to death by 78-year-old Mr Osborn-Brooks in a botched burglary at the pensioner’s house in Hither Green, South London, on April 4.
Just a few yards from the 1920s terrace the OAP shares with his 76-year-old wife Maureen, a turf-war over floral tributes has raged between Vincent’s relatives and angry locals.
Scotland Yard confirmed that locals are set to protest against the tributes at noon on Saturday.
A police spokesman said: "Police are aware of a demonstration arranged by local residents due to take place on Saturday, April 14 in and around South Park Crescent, Hither Green SE6. An appropriate policing plan is in place."
One resident posted a picture of a planned sign reading: "Richard and Maureen Osborn-Brooks You are not alone!"
A further message aimed at supporters of Vincent's who laid flowers opposite the couple's house blasted "Stick your flowers where the sun don't SHRINE".
But as of yesterday, the endless bouquets were gone and torn remembrance notes and ripped petals were left strewn on the pavement in Hither Green.
While friends of the Osborn-Brooks family make their feelings about Vincent and his traveller relatives clear – cops are bending over backwards to improve relations.
Junior officers at Kent Police were forced to attend a seminar on working with the “traveller community” while Vincent and his gang of thieves ran riot on the streets, The Sun Online revealed today.
In 2017, cops were put on a six–day course at the force’s HQ in Northfleet, Kent, with the highlight of the final day being a speaker from the “Gypsy and Traveller community”.
The guest was said to be both a “police officer and a liaison between this community and the police.”
Ever since he was released by the Met without charge, the Osborn-Brooks have been kept in a police safe house in fear of attack by friends of Vincent.
It is now believed that a member of the couple's concerned family will make an announcement on their behalf next week.
While the couple stay away from their home in fear, workmen were spotted outside their home today.
Just before midday, two men carrying clipboards, a ladder and a torch entered the Osborn-Brooks' three-bedroom house, which had metal security grilles placed on its windows last week.
They arrived in a white van and a light could be seen in an upstairs room as they worked inside after passing a police cordon outside the pensioners' house.
A police van was parked in the Osborn-Brooks' driveway as officers continued to guard the three-bedroomed house.
A Met Police spokeswoman refused to comment on the sale of Mr Osborn-Brooks home when approached by The Sun Online.
