Woman claims she was labelled ‘f***ing fat’ by Primark staff after picking up pair of skinny jeans
Jasmin claims the same staff member added: 'People should kill themselves before letting themselves get that fat'
A SHOCKED Primark customer claims a member of staff called her "f***ing fat" when she picked up a pair of jeans.
Jasmin Holton said the remark destroyed her self confidence and left her embarrassed after the employee allegedly added: "People should kill themselves before letting themselves get that fat".
The 35-year-old said she hung her head whilst the onslaught continued and carried on browsing at the budget-store in Taunton, Somerset.
Primark are now investigating the complaint which left Jasmin "feeling horrible" about herself on April 5.
Jasmin, from nearby Bridgewater, had gone shopping with her best friend when she claims the staff member hurled abuse at her.
She said: "Busy staff were all over the shop - but when I got to the jeans section one particular staff member kept looking at me strangely.
"At first I didn't think much of it and carried on browsing. I looked at a few different items and made a comment to my friend that the high waisted jeans were lovely.
"My friend and I then continued browsing in slightly different directions.
"As I got closer to this staff member, a young lady sat on the floor tidying up the clothing made the first nasty comment aimed at me.
"She said 'High-waisted? How can anyone so f***ing fat buy skinny jeans'. I made eye contact with her but was too taken aback to retort.
"I hung my head down and carried on browsing, trying not to let it get to me.
"Then came another comment: 'People should kill themselves before letting themselves get that fat'."
Jasmin was so horrified that she just wanted to end her shopping trip.
She said: "I didn't want to even look at any more items in that area and went on to find my friend.
"I always consider myself to be quite resilient and not let things get to me, however on this occasion they really upset me.
"I am fully aware that I am overweight. However, the clothing in the store more than adequately fits me.
"I was really sad and angry. I felt generally really horrible about myself."
Primark said in response: "We work very hard to ensure our teams provide our customers with the highest level of customer care and we are sorry to hear of the level of customer service you experienced on this occasion.
"We assure you your comments have been shared with the management in our Taunton store to address.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for taking the time to write to us and for bringing these issues to our attention."
A Primark spokesperson added: "Primark always aims to deliver a positive shopping experience and we were sorry to hear a customer was unhappy following a visit to our Taunton store.
"We are in contact with the customer and are investigating their complaint."
