Russia test-fires its 1,800mph P-500 Bazalt missiles that can hit targets 340 miles away as Vladimir Putin shows off military might
THIS is the monster missile Russia is ready to fire on its foes as fears of a World War 3 intensify.
The powerful P-500 Bazalt is a turbo-jet, supersonic cruise missile which can travel more than 1,800mph.
Footage has emerged on YouTube revealing the immense damage the rockets can cause.
In the clip, the weapon is seen being fired from the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser at sea.
The ship, which was launched in 1978, is one of three Russian Navy missile cruisers.
It is kitted out with 16 cruise missile launchers, as well as artillery and anti-submarine systems.
The footage was taken during a Russian Ministry of Defence training exercise on Tuesday.
It simulated an attack using P-500 Bazalt missiles from various heights and directions.
Tensions between Russia and the West have intensified over the last few days.
Sun Online reported on Thursday how President Vladimir Putin is primed to cut any remaining ties with the West.
And critics suggest the latest footage confirms we are on the brink of World War 3.
Theresa May, meanwhile, said Syria's President Bashar al-Assad was responsible for a chemical attack that killed dozens of civilians in Douma.
Speaking in Birmingham on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said: "All the indications are that the Syrian regime was responsible and we will be working with our closest allies on how we can ensure that those who are responsible are held to account and how we can prevent and deter the humanitarian catastrophe that comes from the use of chemical weapons in the future."
The Government is set to join US-led strikes on Assad's military bases, designed to stop him carrying out any more attacks with chemical weapons.
But the response will fall short of pushing the dictator out of power, with Western allies wary about making the country's civil war even worse.
US President Donald Trump claimed his military was about to attack Syria earlier this week.
His warning has prompted Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad to reportedly hide his warplanes within Russia's bases to save them from being obliterated by an impending US missile blitz.
