TOXIC SLAUGHTER

Deadly nerve agent WAS used in Syria chemical attack that killed 70, blood and urine samples reveal

President Donald Trump is expected to decide whether he will launch a response to Syria's attack 'fairly soon'

VICTIMS of the Syrian chemical attack last week that killed 70 have tested positive for chemicals including nerve gas and chlorine, it has been revealed.

US officials who obtained blood and urine samples from victims were said to be “confident” in the intelligence, MSNBC reported.

The samples revealed the victims had tested positive for chemicals including chlorine and a nerve agent substance.

President Donald Trump is expected to decide whether he will launch a response to Syria’s attack “fairly soon”.

America and its allies have also compiled a dossier of intelligence – including images – which indicate that the Syrian government was behind the Douma atrocity.

The Assad regime is thought to have stocks of the nerve agent Sarin and previously used a mixture of chlorine and Sarin in attacks.

President Trump tweeted that a US attack on Syria ‘could be very soon or not so soon at all’

But Russia has since called for the US and its allies to avoid military action against Syria to avoid the “danger of war”.

Russia’s UN Ambassador Vassiliy Nebenzia could not confirm if he was suggesting a war between the US and Russia, could take place.

But Nebenzia did say: “We cannot exclude any possibilities unfortunately because we saw messages that are coming from Washington. They were very bellicose.

“The danger of escalation is higher than simply Syria because our military are there … So the situation is very dangerous.”

Fears of confrontation between Russia, Syria’s big ally, and the West have been running high since Trump said missiles “will be coming” in response to the attack, on Wednesday.

Yesterday, the US President tweeted that Syria’s major ally Russia should “get ready” for American “smart missiles” days after despot Bashar Assad killed at least 70 people in an evil chemical attack.

But after the White House played down Trump’s remarks, the brash billionaire has himself backed away from Wednesday’s Tweets.

Today, he posted: “Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all!

“In any event, the United States, under my Administration, has done a great job of ridding the region of ISIS. Where is our “Thank you America?”

Trump’s threats on Wednesday against Russia were in response to comments from senior Russian officials that Vladimir Putin’s military would strike US bomb sites in retaliation to American aggression.

Trump tweeted: “Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria.

“Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’

“You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!

The Republican firebrand then added: “Our relationship with Russia is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War.

“There is no reason for this. Russia needs us to help with their economy, something that would be very easy to do, and we need all nations to work together. Stop the arms race?”

Responding to Trump’s tweet, a Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman said: “Smart missiles should fly towards terrorists, not a legal government.”

The spokeswoman also reportedly said that US “smart missiles” could be an attempt to destroy evidence of an alleged chemical attack on the ground.

At least 70 people were killed after the depraved chlorine attack on the rebel-held town of Eastern Ghouta on Saturday.

The World Health Organisation has confirmed that 500 people showed symptoms of being exposed to “toxic chemicals”.
