Russian and Syrian government forces take control of Douma where gas attack killed 70

RUSSIA'S defence ministry said this morning Syrian government forces have taken full control of eastern Ghouta.
The forces have also taken control of Duoma, the last rebel stronghold, according to Russian media, days after a toxic gas attack there killed 70.
Russian military police have been deployed in the Syrian town today, RIA news agency reported.
The defence ministry reportedly said: "They are the guarantors of law and order in the town."
Major-General Yuri Yevtushenko, head of the Russian peace and reconciliation centre in Syria, was quoted as saying: "The raised state flag over a building in the town of Douma has heralded the control over this location and therefore over the whole of eastern Ghouta."
We reported yesterday that 500 people have showed symptoms of a chemical attack in Syria's rebel-held town of Douma in eastern Ghouta, according to the World Health Organisation.
The charity condemned the suspected gas attack on April 7, saying hundreds of victims visited health facilities with "signs and symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic chemicals".
UN aid agencies do not have access to most of the enclave of eastern Ghouta where the alleged attack occurred. The Syrian government has denied responsibility.
More than 70 were reportedly killed following the suspected chlorine attack which the UK government has called "diabolical."

Since February 18, Syrian and Russian forces have waged a fierce military onslaught - and it is today reported the Syrian forces have taken control.

The PM suggested the West now has strong proof the tyrant was responsible for a deadly chemical attack which killed dozens of innocent civilians.
