Pensioner, 73, drives £75,000 Porsche 911 Targa through a car park wall — and it crashes onto pavement

The pensioner survived the crash after clearing a 10ft gap and landing nose first

A £75,000 Porsche 911 Targa lies crumpled on a footpath after crashing through a car park wall.

Onlookers said the 73-year-old driver accelerated through the bricks and cleared a 10ft gap before the car landed bonnet first.

Police arrived from their nick yards away and quizzed the man for careless driving.

He will be offered a fitness to drive course. No one was hurt in Thursday’s smash in Colchester, Essex.

Sergeant Colin Shead of Essex Police’s road policing unit said: “A 73 year old male has been reported for careless driving following this RTC in Crouch Street Colchester earlier this evening.

“Thankfully neither the driver or anyone else was injured."

A crane arrived soon afterwards and recovered the stricken vehicle whilst passers-by looked on agog.

A witness said: “It looks as though the car’s been parked and whoever’s got in has just gone straight through the wall.

“I’ve never seen anything like it."
