A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the shooting of a 17-year-old girl in Tottenham.
Tanesha Melbourne was gunned down on the street while she spent time with friends on Monday night.
A 30-year-old man was arrested this morning at an address in the E9 area on suspicion of her murder.
He was taken to a London police station and remains in custody.
Police believe shots were fired from a vehicle into a group of people, fatally wounding Tanesha, who died at the scene on Monday night.
Detectives are working to establish the type of car and how many people were both in the vehicle and within the group shot at.
They are keeping an open mind about the motive for the attack, a Scotland Yard spokesman said.
Detective Inspector Beverley Kofi, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "We are appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident and has not yet come forward, or who in the hours since this shocking murder are privy to information that could help us find those responsible.
"You may be fearful of repercussions of speaking to police, or have loyalties that you believe can't be compromised. We are dealing with the fatal shooting of a teenage girl, and would implore you to do the right thing and come forward."
At the scene of the attack in North London floral tributes have been laid to Tanesha while friends and family have posted heartfelt messages online.
The teen's boyfriend, Lumear Small, 20, described her as "beautiful inside and out" and said she had the "biggest heart of any girl I've ever met".
One of Tanesha's closest friends added: "It hurts to see someone so close to home lose their life to stupidity or by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"It’s genuinely heartbreaking to lose a person like her, she was funny, caring and always knew how to make someone laugh."
