John Prescott’s son David could be MP in WEEKS despite being mired in scandals
THE son of ex-deputy PM, John Prescott, could be an MP in weeks - despite being engulfed in sleaze and anti-semitism scandals.
Jeremy Corbyn’s senior advisor, David Prescott, is being lined up for a safe seat after repeated failures to get elected to Parliament.
Mr Prescott was one of the 12 senior Labour staff found to be a member of groups containing vile anti-Semitic comments.
He insists he was unaware of the offensive material.
He was also briefly suspended last November amid sexual harassment allegations.
Labour aides are said to be plotting a replacement for party moderate Dan Jarvis in Barnsley Central.
He has so far defied demands to stand down as an MP after being chosen to stand as Sheffield mayor.
Mr Prescott is being lined up to defend his 15,500 majority.
Labour declined to comment last night.
Mr Jarvis is embroiled in a bitter row with the leadership over his future.
He won the contest to be Labour’s candidate to fight next month’s Sheffield City region mayoral election, but the party’s ruling National Executive Committee ruled that he must stand down if he won the nomination.
Mr Jarvis has pledged not to take a salary if elected mayor and argued that the role has so few powers that it would allow him to do both jobs.

The role is a transitional post that is only expected to last until 2020.
The party has until Friday to give its final candidate for the race.
Mr Prescott is waiting in the wings if Mr Jarvis loses the tug of war with the Labour leadership, and is hoping to contest the resulting by-election.
But a Labour spokesperson, who declined to comment last night, this morning said it was "categorically untrue" to suggest Mr Corbyn's office was lining up Mr Prescott for Mr Jarvis's seat.
