Jeremy Corbyn urged to suspend Labour MP over claims he beat up his wife
JEREMY Corbyn is under pressure to suspend a Labour MP over claims he beat up his wife.
The party leader has received a letter from backbench MP Jess Phillips over the assault allegations.
She has demanded the accused MP be suspended immediately pending an investigation.
Mr Corbyn could face a revolt from female MPs if he fails to act.
The revelation comes as he faces growing pressure to tackle the party’s anti-Semitism row.
Ex-Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman backed calls for the MP to be suspended.
She told colleagues the issue could be taken to the leader, chief whip Nick Brown and officials to decide his fate.
One MP said: “The allegations against the man are horrific.
The party can’t just sit on its hands.”
