School pals killed in car crash may have lain undiscovered for more than seven hours
Aimee Clayton and Ella Alford, both 18, were found dead up to seven hours after their car veered off the road
TWO school pals killed after their car careered off the road may have lain undiscovered for more than seven hours.
Aimee Clayton and Ella Alford, both 18, were in a white Fiat 500 that went off a 60mph dual carriageway into trees.
A passing motorist saw the car just before 5am on Wednesday near The Hatch Pub on the A30 near Basingstoke, Hants, but the girls had not been seen since before 10pm the night before.
Tributes have since been paid to the young girls, Aimee, of Hook, Hants, and Ella, of Basingstoke, who were both due to sit their A-levels at Peter Symonds College in Winchester this summer.
The pair had been pals since secondary school.
One student in Aimee’s A-level psychology class said: “Aimee was just the nicest person you could meet. She was someone you couldn’t say a bad word about.”
Flowers have already been placed at the scene of the tragedy.
Police now want to speak to any driver with dashcam footage or anyone who saw the crash, which may have happened as early as 9.50pm on Tuesday.
Sgt Andy Noble, from the Joint Roads Policing Unit, said: "We are working hard to establish exactly what happened to cause this collision.
"At this stage we do not know what time the collision happened, so we would like to hear from anyone who drove eastbound along that road between 9.50pm last night and 5am this morning.
"We particularly want to speak to anyone who has done that journey who has a dash cam, as we believe this will help us to narrow down the time of the incident.
"We would also like to speak to anyone who saw a white Fiat 500 driving in the area between those times, so please get in touch."
