A YOUNG mum fighting for her life after being crushed by falling bricks had just got engaged.
Kayla Boor, 29, was on the school run when she was hit by bricks that fell five storeys from a building site as she dropped her child off in Mile End, East London.
Shocking pictures show the young mum laying in the street surrounded by rubble as passers-by rushed to help following the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
Kayla, who lives with her family in Bromley, South East London, remains in hospital tonight - on her 29th birthday - fighting for her life.
Claire Thomas, of Maytrix Construction where Kayla's dad Matthew Boor works, has now set up a .
She told Sun Online: "Her dad works for me.
"The boys all wanted to pitch in and do something to try and help. It's so sad."
Thomas also confirmed that the young mum had got engaged to her partner of four years, Andy Murgatroyd, just last week.
Ms Thomas confirmed Kayla is still in critical care and her family are at her bedside.
Vicar of St Paul's of Bow Common Church, Mother Bernadette Hegarty, described how she rushed to the scene just moments after the horror incident and went to comfort the woman.
She said: "The young woman looked very wounded.
"The paramedics brought her back.
"I sat down and prayed with her as the paramedics worked to bring her back."
Mother Hegarty added that the woman was a very "well-liked" member of the community, which has been left in "deep shock" following the incident.
Horrified witnesses described hearing a "loud bang" and seeing a woman unconscious on the pavement.
Two people were taken to hospital following the terrifying incident in a busy street in Mile End, East London at 9.40am on Tuesday.
Passers-by rushed to help the pedestrian collapsed near the crane working on £650,000 luxury apartments.
London Ambulance Service confirmed two people were taken to hospital, although the condition of the second patient is not known.
Witness Alan Harris described hearing a "loud bang" before rushing over to try to help.
He told the "One woman was out cold underneath the bricks and another woman next to her was screaming hysterically for an ambulance and looking up into the heavens."
The Go Kart track owner said it was unclear whether the two women were together.
Aladdin Rahman said: “My friend, who’s a bus driver and was driving a bus at the time it happened, said that some bricks had fallen on the woman.
“Several people were trying to get to the lady and so were the construction workers.
“It was a hectic scene at the time.”
The incident happened next to a housing development in Burdett Road at the junction with St Paul's Way.
Police have confirmed that her next of kin have been informed.
Bow Corner is a new development of 19 one, two and three bedroom apartments and is currently under construction.
Steve Boreham, construction director of Higgins Homes, said: “Our primary thoughts and concerns are with the lady who has been injured and those affected.
"We are working with the Health & Safety Executive who are investigating the incident to determine the cause and will release more information as soon as it’s available.
"Our priority at the moment is of course to make the area safe.”
A HSE spokesman said: “Inspectors have attended the site and are making ongoing enquiries in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
“As the investigation is ongoing we are unable to comment further at this time.”
