Multi-millionaire Simon, 50, robbed at red traffic lights driving his Maserati in Croydon on Wednesday, said: "This piece of trash needs to be caught.

"The watch was of material and sentimental value, but it can be replaced.

"As long as we have a maniac on the loose waving a handgun around, lives are in danger.

Police yesterday released a fresh image of the Suzuki scooter used in the robbery of the blue and red faced Franck Muller timepiece, bought in celebration at Palace's promotion to the Premier League in 2004.

One detective revealed: "The scooter was on false plates. This was not a random attack.

"We believe the victim has been marked in his day to day business with his movements being watched."
