A SUSPICIOUS delivery driver was caught on camera rifling through Amazon parcels and apparently pinching a pair of trainers.

The courier spent more than five minutes in broad daylight gutting boxes and slicing bags, while on his rounds in East London.

A source spotted the white van man from her flat window in Hackney, and whipped out her phone to film him.

She claimed she saw him pull a pair of trainers from one parcel and place them inside his vehicle.

She said: "I heard the sound of tape being pulled from a roll and looked outside to see what it was.

"He was opening packages then resealing them with brown tape. Those he had already gone through were left outside the pavement.

"The driver must looked inside at least half-a-dozen packages. It was so brazen, it was in an open street.

"The first packet he opened had two pairs of shoes in it. He took one pair of trainers out and stretched across to the driver's seat where he left them.

"The stuff he didn't want he placed back in the big sack, the sort used by couriers delivering for Amazon."

Drivers who deliver for Amazon are employed by independent contractors.

An undercover probe three months ago found drivers were forced to make up to 200 drops per day and exceed daily hour limits.

Amazon - which makes £7.3billion per year - has identified the agency and has launched a probe that could lead to prosecution.

A spokesman said: “We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and expect every parcel to be handled with care.”

''We are investigating this with the provider.”
