A NEW documentary claims the real reason Vladimir Putin hates the West is because nobody turned up to his 2015 party celebrating Russia's World War Two victory.
As tensions between Russia and the UK mount in the wake of the Salisbury spy poisoning, a fascinating film claims ill feeling was actually ignited several years before.
The documentary harks back to May 2015, when Putin was snubbed by every single Western leader invited to a celebration he was holding to mark 70 years after the end of World War Two.
The pro-Putin documentary makes no bones about promoting Soviet Russia's role in the Allies victory, stating: "The nation pays homage to the 27 million men and women and to the bravery of the Red Army.
"It was their personal sacrifice that led to victory over Nazi Germany."
The voiceover is then heard saying: "President Putin has invited Western leaders to come and pay respects to the nation who paid the highest toll in the war.
"Not a single Western leader has responded to the invitation.
“This is a supreme humiliation for Vladimir Putin, one too many."
Viewers are reminded that Russia was NOT invited to the ceremonies of the Liberation of Auschwitz - despite the Soviet Union being the "only state actually involved in its liberation".
Putin: The New Empire then shows the 65-year-old President addressing thousands of soldiers and veterans at the celebration as the voiceover adds: "In his official speech there is no place for traditional diplomatic rhetoric."
Putin then uses his speech to claim a "viable global order" has been jeopardised.
He announces: "In the last 10 years, the basic principles of cooperation have been ignored.
"We have witnessed attempts to establish a unipolar world. We can see a powerful bloc mentality gaining momentum.
“All this jeopardises the possibility of a viable global order. Our priority must be to rebuild a system that guarantees peace between nations."
He ends with: "Victory to all! Happy holiday to all! In memory of the day of victory!"
The 90-minute film is described on Amazon Prime as an "insightful doc starring Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump".
The blurb also claims the film is "not partisan to Putin's wrongs" - despite one reviewer describing it as a "primarily a pro Putin showcase".

The footage will come as another reminder of Putin's hostile relationship with the West, days after he was elected for a further six-year presidential term.
Last week Theresa May expelled 23 Russian diplomats from the country after Putin was unable to explain why a ex-Russian spy was poisoned with a nerve agent in Salisbury on March 4.
Other Western countries have been quick to show their support for the UK, as May encourages them to also banish their diplomats.
