Pig-farming PC who ditched wife for glam hog breeder sacked for stealing £1,400 from breeders’ club
Neil Giles, 48, stole the money during his bid to woo livestock queen Sally-Anne Pawson but will not face criminal charges
A PIG-farming PC who ditched his wife for a glamorous hog breeder has been sacked for gross misconduct.
Neil Giles, 48, fell for livestock queen Sally-Anne Pawson after meeting her at pig shows.
He dumped wife Michaela, with whom he had started breeding pigs on a farm in Billingshurst, West Sussex, while working for the Met, and moved to Sally-Anne’s Lincolnshire home.
But Giles was last week sacked by Humberside Police for stealing £1,436 from a pig breeders’ club.
He was handed the purse strings at the British Saddleback organisation because of his “trustworthy” background as a police officer.
He will not face criminal charges because the club does not want to press charges.
He now lives in a terraced house in Lincolnshire with his lover, where they now make sausages together.
Friends of Michaela say Giles and Sally-Anne, 38, began an affair after meeting at pedigree pig shows across the country.
One said: “It culminated in the Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate in summer 2015. Days later he walked out on Michaela, their teenage son Oliver and the pigs.
“She was devastated. She had no idea it was coming.
“He just said, ‘I’m not happy, I’m going’.
“Then it was discovered there were shortcomings in the club’s finances.
“He had been dipping in for £20 here and there, just little things to maintain his image while he was wooing her.
“It was hot gossip. It was a scandal that rocked the pig breeding world.”
Humberside Police said the thefts had occurred while Giles was in the Met, where he specialised in cases of child trafficking.
A spokesman added: “The club did not want criminal proceedings pursued. He paid the money back.”
